Sam Saunders (b.1993) is a composer and pianist. He spent much of my life pursuing a career in the classical realm, as a concert pianist as well as a composer of orchestra and chamber works. However, in the last couple of years he has focused on making music with a more contemporary sound, working to combine his classical background with the sounds and structures of hip hop and electronic music. He recently completed his first full-length album “Symphony for Electronics”.
Biography
Sam Saunders (b.1993) is a composer and pianist. He spent much of my life pursuing a career in the classical realm, as a concert pianist as well as a composer of orchestra and chamber works. However, in the last couple of years he has focused on making music with a more contemporary sound, working to combine his classical background with the sounds and structures of hip hop and electronic music. He recently completed his first full-length album “Symphony for Electronics”.
Sam is also the founder and the first executive director of the non-profit organization Seven Mile Music, which provides free music lessons every week to over 200 children in underserved areas of Detroit.
Sam is a 2016 graduate of the University of Michigan School of Music, with a Bachelor of Arts in music composition and a concentration in piano performance. He enjoys the outdoors whenever possible, being an avid mountain biker, whitewater canoer, and skier. He also played as a flanker on division 1 Rugby team.
Sam recently relocated to Los Angeles, after living and working in Detroit for several years.
